How you do what you do. Attending to skills and knowledge. Deepening your craft of pastoral ministry through reflection, learning and experience.
Ethical practice and professional accountability. Is what you do grounded within the code of conduct of your organisation?
How are you going? Making space for the spiritual and emotional weight of our work so you can be healthy and safe in your ministry.
Why Side Door?
The name Side Door connotes an informal hospitality where all are welcome. We are intentionally non-denominational which frees us up to focus on you and your particular context without judgement or opinion. This is a place where you come and take a load off; to rest for a moment; to share the ups and downs of your work, life and faith with a qualified supervisor. Together we sort and sift through the issues at hand, you will be encouraged to notice points of tension or frustration.
At Side Door we recognise the diversity of personalities, theological perspectives and circumstances that guide what we do and how we do it.

About Ruth
Originally from the UK, Ruth moved to Australia in 2010 to study theology and never quite left. After graduating with a Bachelors in Theology she spent ten years working in pastoral ministry, accompanying communities through seasons of growth, change and grief. In 2023 Ruth took a sabbatical to write on the topic of embodiment, with all its cultural, spiritual and philosophical intrigue, and in that more reflective space was drawn towards supervision and counselling.
Ruth has since trained in Family Systems Theory, completed a Grad Cert in Pastoral Supervision from Charles Sturt University, and is currently enrolled in a Master of Counselling at the University of Canberra.

'My approach is warm, curious, non-judgmental and person-centred. As a former dancer, I am creative and interested in how we connect with our whole being - body, mind and soul. I am drawn to those who are carrying the weight of caring for others with little time or energy to look after themselves; those who are genuinely curious; those who are not 'mainstream'; and those who are grappling with meaning, certainty and calling'
If any of that resonates, I'd love to hear from you.
As a newly qualified supervisor Ruth is offering 60 minute sessions online for $90 as she completes the hours required for full membership of the Australasian Association of Supervision (AAOS) Click here for more information
